The NorthShore Community Alliance is a place where families can find a helping hand.
Our goal is to strengthen families and communities. It is a new day at NCA and the team is excited at the opportunity. We at The NorthShore Community Alliance (NCA) are charting new waters, and we are determined to continue the rich tradition of providing quality service to the community.
NCA is a non-profit organization consisting of dedicated professionals and community workers who seek to eliminate the numerous ills confronting all communities. NCA began servicing families in 1895 and has successfully maintained the ability to service families and communities for over 100 years. Demonstrating its commitment and level of quality service by successfully completing the Council on Accreditation (COA) process in 2002, NCA continues to strengthen its efforts to ensure sustainability over time. The organization is known for well organized and coordinated programs, effectively assisting families in dealing with crisis situations. The workers assist families by ensuring that the unnecessary placement of children in the child welfare system does not occur.
The organization completes this task through crisis prevention and intervention services, the meeting of concrete needs and providing appropriate referral services for families in the communities. According to the families served, the most impressive work of NCA is…
“the unselfish, nonjudgmental and supportive staff.”
The families consistently report their appreciation for the help and support they receive at some of the lowest points in their battle to survive and keep their children. NCA currently services approximately 100 families representing 231 children. The Organization has an operating after school and summer program that services 50 children. In addition, there is a senior program that provides services and activities for 30 to 40 seniors in the North Side area. The organization has several strategic partnerships with such organizations as the Allegheny County Department of Human Services - Office of Children, Youth & Families, and Office of Community Services; and YouthPlaces.
